Winemaker Tom Robinson

Tom Robinson

With a Master’s degree in French literature, Tom Robinson discovered the relatively obscure 19th century origins of the original Hydropathes Literary Club while studying at the

University of Francois Rabelais, in France’s Loire
Valley. This flamboyant group of artists, writers and poets banned outright the
consumption of water at their bohemian gatherings, where champagne and
wine, conversely, were served in copious quantities.

This inspiration lead to a meandering 10 years of winemaking in California’s Santa Cruz Mountains where he lived in a log cabin overlooking 20 acres of grapes and the majestic Pacific Ocean.

Arriving in Australia over a decade ago, Tom discovered the pleasures and passions of the vineyards of the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and Adelaide Hills. From these exceptional sites, he continues to source amazing fruit and hand-craft small batches of interesting and individual wine.

Honoured with the Gourmet Traveller Wine, New Wine Writer Award in 2012, and with 20 years experience as a Wine Educator, join Tom on his Wine Hikes to enjoy an incredible array of delicious drops for a unique, active outdoor wine experience.
